Position: Residential School Healing Support Worker
Location: Kenora, Ontario
Salary: Negotiable

Grand Council Treaty #3 offers an exceptional opportunity for a results-oriented individual to provide emotional support to IRS Former Students, their family members and support people. The individual will be responsible for conducting intake, and providing information on resources available; provide emotional support to former students at Hearings, events and gatherings; provide support at various healing training sessions and at ceremonies. The individual will also lead complex policy development; analyze statistical data, evaluate policy; prepare briefings, reports, position papers; develop action plans; make presentations; facilitate workshops, training and information sessions; organize meetings; liaise with First Nation members, communities and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Graduation with a degree in Social Work from a recognized university or other related post-secondary degree. Specialization that has been obtained though an acceptable combination of training, education and or experience may be considered. Proven expertise in policy analysis/advisory/development; demonstrated knowledge of First Nations Social issues, Child Welfare, First Nation political processes and community dynamics; knowledge of pertinent provincial/federal legislation; analytical/research skills; superior written/oral communication skills and tact; excellent organization skills to manage competing priorities. Solid understanding of Treaty Rights, challenges, opportunities pertaining to First Nation social issues regarding IRS. Ability to communicate in Ojibway is considered an asset. Requirements include ability to travel, valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
