Boozhoo – Welcome to the official website of the Grand Council of Treaty #3.
GCT3 Representative Services is a corporate entity that administers and is responsible for agreements made with external governments made necessary by Federal Government of Canada policy. This administrative entity is accountable to the Nation through the Office of the Ogichidaakwe and the Grand Council Executive Council. The corporate board is composed of Chiefs from one of each of the four directions. The Ogichidaakwe does observe some of the board meetings for the Nation or her delegate, Janine Bird from the Office of the Ogichidaakwe. The senior administrative staff member is interim Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Don Rusnak who is from Lac Des Mille Lac First Nation. Mr. Rusnak was tasked to implement several recommendations for administrative revitalization and most of those recommendations have since been implemented.
The Administrative Office section is comprised of various departments, and responsibility for each portfolio is delegated to those departments. Please view the navigation on the left side to choose which sections of our website you wish to view.
Office Update: We welcome our communities to contact Don Rusnak, interim Chief Executive Officer, to receive an update on the efforts to implement recommendations made to the Chiefs in Assembly in 2007-2008. The Board representative(s) and Senior Administrative Staff have recently met with the Chiefs in the four directions, south, east, west and North to have meaningful discussion on the administrative issues faced by the Grand Council as well as plans for organizational revitalization into the Spring of 2009.
The Administration is supported by limited government funding and revenues gained by the assertion of inherent jurisdiction for the 28 member communities and regulatory authority over the 55,000 square miles of Treaty 3 territory.
