The role of the Social Portfolio is to promote, preserve and protect Aboriginal and Treaty rights for all Treaty #3 citizens in the social policy areas of family violence, disabilities, culture, child welfare and our child care law, known as Abinoojii Inakonigwin.
The Social Portfolio conducts research and analysis to ensure any and all external policies respect the social needs and priorities identified by the 28 First Nations and to protect the authority and integrity of Treaty #3 laws, customs and practices.
In order to better serve our 28 First Nations, the Social Portfolio establishes and maintains communication links between our communities, mainstream organizations/agencies and government.
All of the work is mandated by leadership by resolution in Assembly.
